Home Energy Source Alternatives – Are We Ready for Geothermal Energy
The concept of geothermal energy dates back to the time when Romans were able to successfully harness the earth’s natural energy for heating their baths. Historical records are awash with evidences proving that early civilizations have used the heat that emanates from the earth to cook or heat their food. Today, geothermal energy offers a practical option in cooling and heating our homes. This is not just an alternative energy source that is easy on the pocket but also friendly to the environment.
Mannvit Engineering’s Geothermal Resources Assessment is Key in Energy Agreement
Mannvit Engineering Provides Technical Assessment of Geothermal Reserves in Support of Magma Energy's 32% Acquisition of Iceland Geothermal Company HS Orka.
Mannvit Engineering Enters Partnership with Technip for U.S. Geothermal Projects
Mannvit Engineering has signed a partnership with Technip to develop geothermal projects in the United States, using Technip's Claremont, California operating center. The partnership, which is effective immediately, offers geothermal project developers and financiers a single point of responsibility for all key areas of geothermal development. Areas include: consulting, research, financial analysis, project and risk management, and exploration as well as engineering, design, procurement, construction management and power plant start up services.
Hungarian Geothermal Development Reaches Key Milestone -- First Well Completed
Hungary's new geothermal home heating utility reached an important milestone - drilling was completed for the first geothermal well in the town of Szentlörinc, Southwest Hungary. When completed, this project will support home heating for a total of 30 municipalities in Hungary.

Geothermal, Condensing Boilers, and Micro Chp: Heat Your Home With Less Gas Or Oil
There are three exciting new technologies that can help you heat your home this winter with less, or perhaps even no oil or gas. Each of these systems will pay for itself in just a small period of time, and after that you keep all the savings you reap on lower oil and gas bills. Each of these three products, condensing boilers, micro chp systems, and ground source heat pumps are already in widespread use around the globe, and poised to explode into the market in the US.
Geothermal Heat Pumps: Superior New Technology
A Geothermal Heat Pump () (GHP) is an apparatus that extracts heat from below the surface of earth. It works on the principle that heat flows from higher temperature substances to lower temperature substances via conduction or via convection (air currents). Geothermal Heat Pumps take in heat from the earth or water bodies to provide space and water heating. This works since the earth traps nearly half the sun's energy that is received by the earth.
Strategic Sale of Major US Geothermal Development Company Completed March 20, 2007
Marathon Capital, LLC announced today, the sale of AMP Resources, LLC to Enel, N.A. Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Enel S.p.A, Italy.
Advantages of Geothermal Energy
There are a lot of advantages of geothermal energy that makes it a more feasible option compared to fuels and other sources. The biggest advantage of geothermal energy is that it's CLEAN. It allows energy to be extracted without burning fossil fuels like oil, coal or gas. It's estimated that compared to a fossil fuel plant, geothermal power plant releases only about 1 to 3 percent of the carbon dioxide emissions and 97 percent less acid rain. The environment remains almost intact, because after the water and how steam have been used, they are re-injected back into the earth.
